Maungdaw: Two Burman model villagers were hacked to death by local Muslims in Maungdaw Township on the western Burma border on Thursday, said an official report.
They were killed by a group of Muslim people. Another model villager received serious injuries in the attack, said the report.
“The incident occurred in Kharay Mying model village in Maungdaw at 2 am on Thursday. The Muslim miscreants killed them inside a video film parlour while they were sleeping there,” he said.
The victims were identified as U San Mying, (53) and U Soe Aung (48) from Kharay Myint village in Du Chara Dan village tract in Maungdaw Township.
According to a local source, about 10 Muslim people wearing black uniforms secretly entered the model village of Kharay Myint at midnight and attacked some model villagers.
When the miscreants saw the sleeping model villagers inside the video parlour, they hacked them with swords.
“U San Myint and U Soe Aung died on the spot and a 16-year old model villager Ko Bo Ko escaped the attack with critical injuries and is now hospitalized in Maungdaw General Hospital,” the worker said.
Many local people are badly shaken after hearing the news of the attack on model villagers by the miscreants.
According to a local source, at least 7 Buddhists in Maungdaw Township were killed by some Muslim miscreant’s in attacks this year.
The Burmese military is conducting a combing operation for the culprits because the victims are Burman and came from Rangoon to settle in the village as part of a government project.
Many Muslims, whether involved or not, in the areas have been arrested by Nasaka Burma’s border security force soon after the killings.
